Parnassus is one of the largest and most beautiful mountains in Greece. It extends to Viotia, Fthiotida and Fokida and is also a wildlife sanctuary.
The mountain is dedicated to god Apollo and the highest peak of Liakoura, took its name from Greek mythology. Apollo's mountain once had a city that was destroyed by the defeat of Deucalion, and its inhabitants following the cries of wolves moved higher to safety. This city was named Lycorea, meaning wolf howls. The mountain is a sacred place known for its peaks, mosses, the temple of Apollo and the Oracle of Delphi, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.
In the history of Greece, it is often referred to in the Revolution of 1821 and in the battle of the Greek tribes of southern Greece against the raids from the North, with the Battle of Thermopylae the greatest one that took place in its lands. Eptalophos (Agoriani)

Vargiani
A traditional village with few inhabitants, where in 1821 highlighted two heroes, Nikos Balaouras and Captain Liapis. The sights are also missing from this place, with the Bourboula springs, the Vargiani Folklore Museum, the Hydra and the path to Neradospilia.
Ano Polydrosos

National Park of Parnassos
The National Park of Parnassus has an area of 36,000 acres and is one of the oldest National Parks in the country. Dense vegetation consists of fir, cedar, blackberry, hornbeam and rare endemic plants. The mountain also hosts foxes, wolves, squirrels, ferrets, ferrets, vultures, eagles, snakes and wild boars.
