Two hours and a quarter only, the dreamy Poros, away off the port of Piraeus by a conventional ship or an hour if you choose to travel with a flying dolphin. The green island is an ideal retreat for you for a quick getaway from the city. In fact, there are two islands, Spheria and Kalavria, where together they constitute the beautiful island of Argosaronikos, Poros.

A walk along the cobbled narrow streets will slowly introduce you the island's traditional houses and buildings. A trademark of Poros, the Historic Clock, built in 1927, dominates from a distance. The displayed time is not in line with the actual, fitting as time seems time has stopped on the island. The retro and romantic beauty of the island has remained over the years passing, as it has very recently become a tourist attraction and therefore retained many elements of the past. One of the most beautiful houses on the island, Villa Galini, built in 1892, is a house that has occasionally hosted great personalities of the intellectual field and art.

At Korízi Square you will find the Archaeological Museum of Poros, which was built during 1967-1968 above the old house of Alexandros Korizis, Prime Minister of Greece in 1941. Unique exhibits also host the Museum "Kochilia and Thalassa" which is housed in the Hatzopoulio Municipal Library.

Do not miss to visit the Harbor of Love, the beach of the Russian Nafsathmos and Askeli, the largest tourist resort on the island. If you want to swim on a beautiful beach with sand and pebbles, then we recommend the beach of Vagonias.

Very close by ferry or local boats, is Galatas, where you will find the famous Lemon Tree forest, home to more than 30,000 lemon and orange trees. In Galatas you must definately visit the beaches of Aliki and Plaka.

Last but not least, it is worth visiting the village of Troizina, where the ruins of Ancient Trizina, the home of Theseus and Diabologefiros site, a small but impressive gorge with beautiful waterfalls.

Poros island is definitely a good choice for a quick getaway to a calming and peaceful place.
