Information

My name is Giorgos Kariofillis and i live in the village of Lepetymnos in Lesvo. In 2011, when I finished my university studies, because of the difficulty of finding a job but also of my great love for the land, I decided to take up the alternative cultivation of the aronia. Its diverse qualities have prompted me to cultivate my land and produce a product with so many benefits to the human body. Today, a few years later, I am very pleased with my choice and my shopping audience is just as happy.

What is aronia

Its name may be unknown to many. However, it is a widespread culture abroad. Arona is distinguished in three species: blackcurrant, rosé and red. Of these, blackberry is the one found in medicinal plants, while the other two belong to the category of ornamental plants.
Aronia melanocarpa belongs to the family of rosides and is known as black chokeberry. It is a deciduous shrub and its height can reach 2 to 2.5 meters. It is a very resistant plant in a variety of soil and climatic conditions and the range of cultivation temperatures ranges from -25 to +40 degrees Celsius.

The flowering blooms - depending on the climate - from July to August and the fruit matures in Greece from August to early September. Its fruit - which is edible and delicious - is small (7-10 mm), round, soft black at first and dark black when matured.
